LAS VEGAS, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A Metro Las Vegas police officer was treated at a hospital after being bitten on the face by his own police dog, police said.

The officer and dog were searching for a suspect Monday night when the officer fell accidentally, causing the dog to become agitated and bite the officer in the jaw, KLAS-TV, Las Vegas, reported.

The officer was treated and released from University Medical Center with cuts on his jaw and face that were not serious, the TV station said.
