Andrew Vecere, a lawyer for Richard Parrinello, 44, an animal control officer in Brookhaven, said his client is moving the estimated 850 snakes from his garage to a temporary storage facility while he scouts three possible locations for a pet store "in a zoned commercial facility," Newsday reported Monday. Advertisement "Hopefully, we have a signed lease shortly," Vecere said. "We're doing everything as quickly as humanly possible." Vecere was accused of illegally using his garage to store and sell the snakes and other animals, including tarantulas, following a Sept. 19 search of his home related to allegations he was working another job while on disability leave from his animal control position. Police seized two Burmese pythons, which are illegal to possess in New York without a permit. Investigators said Parrinello was selling the animals on his website, SnakeMan's Exotics, without a permit to use his home to operate the business.
