Venomous snakes invade Georgia apartment complex

NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- People living in Georgia apartment complex said seven venomous copperhead snakes have been spotted in the area in recent weeks.

Juanita Kennemore, a resident of the Bradford Gwinnett Apartment complex in Norcross, said a resident managed to kill one of the snakes with a brick Sunday and experts identified it from pictures, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday.

"It was copperhead and it was very huge and I feel it wasn't safe for the kids," Kennemore said.

Resident Paul Patterson said he spotted a baby copperhead in a hallway recently.

The residents said they have turned to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for help.

Experts said the snake may have come to the apartments seeking refuge from recent rainfall and dropping temperatures.
