NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Performance group Improv Everywhere said its latest stunt involved setting up an orchestra outdoors in New York and inviting people on the street to conduct.

The group, which teamed with Carnegie Hall and Ensemble ACJW for the project, set up the orchestra in Greeley Square with an empty podium and a sign reading "Conduct Us," leading about 30 amateur conductors to take to the podium and lead the musicians.

"I know no one who was there will ever hear 'The Marriage of Figaro' again without remembering the day," organizer Charlie Todd wrote on the Improv Everywhere website.

The conductors included children, seniors and one 34th Street Partnership security officer.
