BRIDGEPORT, Conn., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A gold-colored Apple iPhone 5S listed by a Connecticut seller sold on eBay for more than $10,000.

The auction, which ended Monday at 4 p.m., had only reached $2,500 about 2 hours before the end of the auction, but a bidder drove the price up to $10,000 with only moments remaining and another bidder snatched up the phone with a high bid of $10,100, PC Magazine reported Wednesday.

The 16-GB phone was listed as "factory-unlocked" and "very hard to find."

Apple's website says orders for the recently released phone are scheduled to ship in October due to the high demand. The iPhone 5S sells for $549 on the company's website.

The auction winner will also have to pay a $22.95 shipping fee, the auction said.
