Janet Harris said she refused to allow her shattered elbow to stop her from marrying Lester Perzanowski, 66, at the Holly Hotel in Holly Sept. 14 -- so she was given a chair to sit on for the ceremony and exchanged her vows before being treated by paramedics, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.
"The minister had said to me, 'Do you know who I am?' And I said 'Yes,'" Harris said. "He goes 'Do you know who you're marrying?' And I said 'Yes, Lester.'"
The paramedics took Harris to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc.
"It just epitomized how much love that her and Lester share," said the Rev. Mark Raitz, who officiated the ceremony. "Even through the pain and even through what she had experienced... nothing was going to stop it."
Harris said the worst thing about her injury was missing her reception.
"It's a shame that I wasn't there. That's probably the worst part of it," she said. "I guess the best part of it is I am married in God's eyes now."
Perzanowski said he is happy his bride didn't sustain more serious injuries.
"I told her she fell for me head over heels," he joked.
Harris said she had an artificial elbow installed since taking her wedding day tumble.
