CLOUD, Minn., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A Minnesota doctor who delivered 13 babies in a 24 hour period that ended Friday the 13th said that was a personal record in his 32 years of practice. Dr. David Kroska, an obstetrician/gynecologist with the CentraCare Clinic, said his shift started normally Sept. 12 at St. Cloud Hospital, but soon turned into a birthing fest that ended Friday with his having delivered 13 babies, including two cesarean sections, the St. Cloud Times reported Friday. "They just came one after another in kind of a non-stop; I had a very, very busy night," Kroska said. "It was kind of a blur almost -- work all night, not sleeping -- but I had some catnaps, maybe 15 minutes here and there to refresh myself." Kroska said his previous record, set several years ago, was 10 babies in a 24-hour period. "I have not heard of any of my partners ever say that they've had that many deliveries, and I'm not sure it's an all-time record anywhere," he said. "But it's such a privilege and truly an honor to be part of these babies' and parents' lives." Advertisement
