Police said the man, whose name was not released, attempted to use a crowbar to break into an ATM at the Bank of America in the Portola neighborhood around 3:45 a.m. Friday and officers arrived at the scene to find the suspect had fled to the roof, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday.
The man attempted to flee by jumping from roof to roof and a San Francisco Fire Department ladder truck arrived and helped officers up off the ground to look for the suspect.
Police said the man was arrested about 5 a.m. when officers discovered he had fallen through a weak spot in a nearby roof.
The man, who did not suffer any serious injuries in his fall, was arrested, police said.
