TORONTO, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A Canadian couple became the first to hold their wedding 1,168 feet above the ground on the Edgewalk of Toronto's CN Tower.

Lacy Boland and John Kirk, who have been together for 12 years and have three children together, held their wedding on the Edgewalk Thursday after Kirk's sister entered them in a contest through City-TV's "Breakfast Television," the Toronto Sun reported Friday.

"We feel incredibly lucky to have such a memorable wedding -- not just for us, but everyone involved," Kirk said.

Kirk said his sister did not tell them about the contest until they had won.

"We had no idea -- but it worked out so well," Kirk said.

The couple said Kirk proposed to Boland seven years ago, following the birth of their first child, but they were unable to afford a wedding until winning the contest.
