Four gators escape Swedish zoo, all but one recaptured

ESKILSTUNA, Sweden, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Officials at a Swedish zoo said they were searching for one of four alligators that escaped the facility, and they suspect sabotage led to the escape.

Zookeepers at the Parken Zoo in Eskilstuna said four Chinese gators escaped Tuesday, one day after a leopard briefly escaped from its pen and killed four deer. All but one of the reptiles were quickly recaptured, Swedish news agency TT reported Wednesday.

Officials said zoo workers found air soft gun pellets near the primate house Tuesday, leading them to suspect someone had been shooting at the animals.

The officials said the escapes and the pellets have fueled suspicion someone is sabotaging the zoo. They said security has been increased at the facility and police are investigating.
