ADDISON, Ill., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- An Addison, Ill., man says he did not know he won the 4th of July Millionaire Raffle until two weeks ago because he "forgot all about" his ticket.

Giuesppe Anelli said he opened the glove compartment of his car two weeks ago and saw the ticket, the Illinois Lottery said in a statement Tuesday.

"Sometimes I buy an instant ticket or a Lotto ticket and I put them in a glove compartment," he said. "But I forgot all about my Raffle ticket!"

Anelli took the ticket into a gas station to have it scanned and got a message he should "file a claim," the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

He said he and his wife plan to use the $2 million prize to pay off their mortgage and start college funds for their three children, the Lottery release said.

The other $2 million winner in the 4th of July Raffle was identified as Pitee Patel of Rockford.
