SEATTLE, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Guinness World Records said the crowd at Seattle's CenturyLink Field set a world record for stadium noise during the Seahawks-49ers game Sunday.

Phil Robertson, a judge for Guinness, said the crowd registered 131.9 decibels when Seattle defender Michael Bennett sacked San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick during the first quarter of Sunday night's game, defeating the 131.76-decibel record set by an Istanbul soccer crowd, The Seattle Times reported Monday.

Bill Stewart, the sound engineer and partner at SSA Acoustics in Seattle who did the measuring, said the crowd beat its own record during the third quarter when a goal-line stand that stopped the 49ers from scoring earned the team a roar of 136.6 decibels from the crowd.
