Swedish group wants sex ed integrated in all other subjects

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- A Swedish group promoting sexual education says it wants to have the subject integrated into all other school subjects, including religious studies.

Han Olsson, an expert with the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education, said the group is calling for sex education to be included in all other school subjects, including math, geography, religious studies and language studies, The Local.se reported Friday.

"The teaching needs to be more coordinated so that it's not that one student gets great sex education while another gets none at all," Olsson said.

"Sex education needs to be professionalized. It needs to be seen as an area of knowledge much like other subjects," he said.

The group said including sex education in religious studies classes will help counteract negative religious viewpoints of condom use and homosexuality.
