Elderly woman suspected in vehicle vandalism spree

Sept. 12, 2013 at 3:18 PM

GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A 73-year-old woman in Connecticut was arrested for allegedly vandalizing cars after she was spotted using keys to scratch a vehicle, police said.

Investigators said more than 20 vehicles have been keyed since June in Greenwich's Pemberwick Road area and a neighbor spotted Janina Slomiana keying a car Sunday morning, the same morning as five other reported incidents, the Greenwich Time reported Thursday.

Slomiana was arrested and charged with six counts of criminal mischief.

"The outstanding cases of the cars that have been vandalized are still under investigation," Greenwich Police Lt. Kraig Gray said. "At this point, we can't definitively trace them back [to Slomiana]."

Police said they have not yet determined a motive for the incidents.
