CONROE, Texas, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Texas youth arrested for trespassing in a church told police he broke in so he could pray.

Juan Ramon Maldonado was arrested for trespassing after Montgomery County deputies said he forced open the doors of Silver Springs Baptist Church in Magnolia, near Conroe, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday.

A woman said she saw a man enter the church after she heard someone trying to break open the building's front door, police said. The man told her he "came to pray."

The woman checked with church staff to ensure the man was not supposed to be in the building, then called police and left.

The man was found sitting at a piano in the sanctuary when deputies arrived. He told the officers he "came to pray."
