KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Kuwaiti authorities said they captured a lion cub seen wandering near Kuwait City and the animal's owner is being brought up on charges.

Local security officials said the cub was spotted wandering in the Bayan area, near Kuwait City, and was captured and taken to the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, the Arab Times reported Monday.

Investigators said they found the cub belonged to a private citizen who was keeping it as a pet. The man is facing charges related to illegally keeping the animal.
