Ricky Flynt, the state's alligator program coordinator, said hunters Dustin Bockman, Ryan Bockman and Cole Landers caught a 13-foot male gator Sunday measuring 727 pounds, setting a weight record but falling two inches short of the length record, CBS News reported Tuesday. Advertisement The men caught the gator in the Mississippi River in Claiborne County, Flynt said. A separate group, Ellisville hunters Brandon "Boo" Maskew and Allen Purvis, landed a female alligator Saturday measuring 10 feet long and weighing 295.3 pounds. The catch set length and weight records for a female gator in the state. Mississippi's alligator season ends Sept. 9, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks said.
