Stork caught in Egypt was not a spy

QENA, Egypt, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A spy mystery in Egypt involving a stork suspected of flying around with a surveillance device has been solved, investigators said.

The device attached to the big bird's wing turned out to be a simple tracking device belonging to French scientists monitoring its movements.

Asian News International said Sunday the device has stopped working once the bird left French air space.

Sky News said the stork was captured along the Nile by a fisherman who saw the device and suspected it was some type of surveillance device, or even a bomb.

The man turned the hapless bird in at a nearby police station in Qena where officers couldn't figure out what the gadget was either and called in veterinary experts.
