Visa said its annual Tooth Fairy survey, based on 3,000 telephone interviews conducted July 12-28, indicates children are receiving an average 23 percent more money per tooth this year over 2012, and 40 percent more than the going rate per tooth in 2011. Advertisement "The Tooth Fairy is throwing money around like pixie dust," said Nat Sillin, Visa's head of U.S. Financial Education. "While more money is exciting news for children, parents should take this opportunity to talk saving and smart money habits with their kids and have the same talk with a perhaps overgenerous Tooth Fairy." Sillin said Visa is encouraging parents to use its free Tooth Fairy app to calculate the proper amount of money to leave when their children loose teeth. The survey's margin of error was 3 percentage points.
