Maury County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Nathan Johns said Lt. Andy Jackson, head of the department's Central Investigations Division, was reprimanded after he admitted to firing his handgun into the air to ward off a turkey he discovered defecating on the hood of his patrol car outside the department's detective division at 7:30 a.m. July 29, The (Columbia, Tenn.) Daily Herald reported Thursday. Advertisement "We don't train to use our firearm to scare animals off of vehicles," Johns said. Sheriff Enoch George said the sheriff's detective who first reported the incident, Terry Chandler, was reassigned at his own request shortly after the incident and later resigned. George said no punitive actions were taken against Chandler. "He did not accept criticism well, and he didn't like his lieutenant [Jackson]," George said. "There were some things that happened the morning before the complaint about the shooting. I won't get into what kind of things, but he had been talked to by his lieutenant."
