Norwegian couple build house inside glass dome

SANDHORNOY, Norway, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Norwegian couple have constructed a straw and clay cottage inside a glass dome above the Arctic Circle and say they plan to grow fruit and vegetables.

Benjamin and Ingrid Hjertefolger of Sandhornoy said their home, dubbed The Nature House, is enclosed in a glass dome. It is surrounded by nearly 2,000 square feet of gardens and terraces inside the dome for growing oranges, tomatoes, squash and green peppers, The Local.no reported Wednesday.

"We live in the northern part of Norway where it's very windy and cold, so we wanted protection around the house where we could [grow] fruit and vegetables," Benjamin Hjertefolger said. "We also wanted to build a house that's good for living, with only natural materials and no poisonous, pre-made things."

The couple said their home cost about $490,500 to construct. They said they plan to move in during the winter.
