Michigan police officer reunites pig with owner

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Michigan police officer said he was able to reunite a small pig with its owner -- but not before the animal relieved himself in the back seat of a patrol car.

Grand Rapids police officer Jeremy Huffman said witnesses told him they had seen a small pig wandering a Grand Rapids neighborhood and he discovered the animal near his patrol car, WXMI-TV, Grand Rapids, reported Wednesday.

Huffman said he contacted animal control and loaded the pig into the back of his car. He said he was able to reunite the swine, named Ramone, with his owner, who showed gratitude by cleaning the pig's mess out of the back of Huffman's car.

Authorities said Ramone's breed is not considered a livestock pig under the law, but rather an exotic pet.
