Lauderhill police said Jeffrey Wright, 27, and his wife, Alexis Longo, 22, went into the store Tuesday to complain about a problem with Longo's vanilla coffee order, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.
The couple argued with worker Rajay Hall, 19, and the confrontation became physical when Longo attempted to strike Hall and Wright got involved.
Police said Wright put Hall in a headlock and struck him in the head with a pistol. Wright, who works as a security guard, has a concealed carry permit.
Wright was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and held in lieu of $20,000 bond. Longo was charged with simple battery and ordered held in lieu of $1,000 bond.
Hall, who was not seriously injured, said he did not know about the pistol whipping until he was told about it by witnesses.
"I didn't even realize he was hitting me with the gun. I thought he was just hitting me with his fist and I was just punching him back," Hall said.
