LEWES, Del., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Authorities in Delaware said the $10,000 dropped from a helicopter to shocked harbor visitors was part of a dead person's last wish.

People working and visiting Saturday night at Lewes Harbor said they were baffled when cash began to drop to the ground and water from a helicopter flying overhead, WBOC-TV, Delmarva, reported Tuesday.

"Nobody really knew what was happening until it happened," said Kara Miele, who works at the Irish Eyes pub near the marina. "And once the commotion of it all, like, you could see that they were yelling that it was money and then everyone knew it was money. And then the customers ran over and we ran over. Nobody was like fighting with each other for it but everyone was just scrambling trying to grab everything they could."

Police said they were aware of the stunt, which was organized according to the final wish of a person whose identity was not released. An officer was sent to the area to make sure the money did not spark any fights.
