Muskegon airport to build bathroom for travelers

Aug. 17, 2013 at 2:18 PM   |   Comments

MUSKEGON, Mich., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A Michigan airport will build a restroom beyond its security checkpoint so travelers won't have to be screened twice just because nature calls, officials said.

Marty Piette, manager of the Muskegon County Airport, said about $60,000 of an $80,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation will go toward planning and possibly building a bathroom in the terminal beyond the security checkpoint.

Piette said travelers have not complained about needing to be screened twice but it has proven inconvenient at times.

It was unclear how much of the $60,000 would be used up in the planning and designing phases of the remodeling, Piette told the news website Mlive.com.

"[Who] knows, it might be enough to build the bathroom -- we just don't know yet," he said.
