MOSCOW, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A Russian surgeon who took payment for his services in a different way was arrested after he pocketed drugs he had removed from a drug mule, police say.

The doctor was arrested while he was high on drugs, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

A bag containing five grams of heroin that he removed from inside the body of a drug mule in a hospital in the Krasnoyarsk region of eastern Siberia was found on the surgeon, police said in a statement.

He could face a possible 15 years in prison if convicted on the possession charge, police said.
