Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe ANKARA, Turkey, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The Turkish deputy prime minister asked a singer to skip a song with a booze reference at a meeting of the Balkan Immigrant's Culture and Support Association. Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc overruled some people at the meeting who requested folk singer Fahriye Guney sing the famous Balkan folk song "Vardar Ovasi" because it contains a reference to the alcoholic beverage raki, the Hurriyet Daily News reported Friday. Advertisement "This song's lyrics include raki. Sing a different song," Arinc said. "Sing it when I am not here," he said jokingly. Guney sang a different tune at Arinc's request. Arinc posted on his Twitter account in 2011 that he is a fan of the song. "Ataturk's favorite songs are playing. My wife and I are listening that magnificent song 'Vardar Ovasi' with great pleasure," he wrote.
