The post was up for five hours before his Facebook profile was disabled.
Medina later told police that he and his wife, Jennifer Alfonso, had gotten into a fight. Medina says he got his gun and pointed it at Alfonso, 26, and she left the room.
Minutes later, Medina claims, Alfonso returned to the bedroom to announce she was leaving him. Medina says he followed her, this time without the gun, and that she began punching him.
At this point, Medina says he returned to the bedroom to rearm himself, and when he returned to the kitchen, Alfonso was armed with a knife. Medina claims he got the knife away from her, at which point she began punching him again, and then he shot her.
Then he took a photo of Alfonso, with her knees bent backwards and blood covering her left cheek and arm, posted it to Facebook, and tagged her in the photo with the caption "RIP."
Both the photo and status, posted around noon on Thursday, had hundreds of shares by the time they were removed.
"What sick person goes and writes a status about it and says it's something they have to do?" said Daysi Fernandez, Alfonso's best friend.
Police found the body at his home, and reportedly found Alfonso's 10-year-old daughter with her mother's body, unharmed.
Neighbors said Medina carried a concealed weapon and acted like the neighborhood watch captain in their community. They described him as "paranoid" with his windows covered and security cameras at his front door.
They painted a picture of a paranoid man who kept his windows covered and had surveillance cameras pointed at his front door.
Medina, 31, maintains the website EmotionalWriter.com and has written a series of bizarre e-books including "How I Saved Someone's Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communication." In another, he claims he can hunt ghosts and once saved his wife from a ghost attack.
