WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- What began as a joke between two Florida 911 dispatchers captured in a topless photo has led to serious charges for a male co-worker who allegedly swiped it.

Omar Trevino, 31, a dispatcher in the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, has been charged with unlawful use of a computer or cellular device. Investigators said Trevino swiped a female co-worker's phone while she was on a 15-minute break and flipped through her pictures. He found a photo of the woman and another co-worker topless. Police said Trevino then used the woman's phone to email himself the picture and deleted the sent email so she wouldn't notice what had happened.

Trevino was caught when he showed another male co-worker the photo and that man alerted detectives in the department, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Trevino has been taken off duty since June 6, when the charges were filed.

The Sun Sentinel said Trevino may take a plea deal with prosecutors to avoid what could be a maximum five-year prison sentence.

The women told investigators the photo was taken last November at one woman's home as part of a joke about photos to be used on a Christmas card.
