Police: Man allegedly punched clerk who refused to sell liquor

WAIANAE, Hawaii, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in Hawaii said an intoxicated man allegedly punched a store clerk who refused to sell him liquor.

Police said the 26-year-old man, whose name was not released, became angry at a Waianae liquor store around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the clerk refused to sell liquor to the apparently intoxicated man, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Monday.

Investigators said the man punched the clerk, left the store and returned with a "dangerous instrument."

The man allegedly threatened the clerk and damaged an ATM before leaving the store.

Police said they arrested the man about 4:20 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree terrorist threatening, fourth-degree criminal property damage, and third-degree assault.
