New Jersey man has written nearly 300 letters to Obama

JACKSON, N.J., Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A New Jersey man says he is writing a book, a compilation of disapproving letters written to President Barack Obama nearly every day since he won re-election.

Francis Del Vecchio, 67, of Jackson, who served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and later started a business selling industrial kitchen equipment, said he started writing to Obama Nov. 18, nearly two weeks after the president won re-election, and he has sent letters nearly every day since, The Asbury Park (N.J.) Press reported Friday.

Del Vecchio, who said he got throat cancer due to his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam, said he is compiling nearly 300 of the letters and the responses he received from the White House into a book titled "Mr. President, What Are You Doing to America?"

Del Vecchio said he disagrees with Obama's policies, which he said have left the populace increasingly dependent on government entitlements, but he has nothing personal against the president.

"I think he's a good man, I really do," Del Vecchio said. "I think he has a lot of great qualities and I agree with a lot of the things he wants to do. But he really lacks management skills in getting them done the right way, so that's why I write the letters."
