DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a man accused of breaking into a high school to have sex with a woman and damaging a vending machine said he had the "beer munchies."

Investigators said an officer responding to an alarm at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach pulled over Vincent Ewell, 18, and Lindsay Longbottom, 19, while they were driving away from the school, WFTV, Orlando, Fla., reported Thursday.

Police said they found open doors and vandalized vending machines at the school.

The pair allegedly told officers they broke into the school because they needed a place to have sex and keep the encounter a secret from Longbottom's boyfriend.

Ewell told officers the vending machines were vandalized because he had the "beer munchies," police said

Police said Ewell and Longbottom are both facing burglary charges.
