LONDON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A BBC has apologized for the "BBC Breakfast" TV program airing a photo of Prince William bearing an obscene doodle on his head.

The BBC released a statement saying the image was "fleetingly" aired as part of a video made by the Barbershopera comedy group to promote its appearance on "BBC Breakfast."

"We failed to spot the offending material within it. We apologize for this," the statement said.
