Pa. police chief says he expects to be fired for vulgar video

GILBERTON, Pa., July 25 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania police chief said he expects to lose his job because of online posts in which he calls liberals "libtards" and tells critics "[expletive] you."

Gilberton, Pa. Police Chief Mark Kessler is seen in a YouTube clip firing federally restricted weapons along an old strip-mining road while unleashing a stream of vulgarity -- referring at one point to an earlier clip that had drawn criticism for its vulgar content, the Allentown (Pa.) Morning Call reported.

A follow-up video shows Kessler appearing to apologize for the earlier clip, and then taking back the apology.

"This boy don't roll that way ... ," he says. "For all you people out there who cried and cried about, oh, I used profanity, f--- you."

Kessler posted an image of himself on Twitter with the caption, "shooting a libtard out of a tree."

Gilberton officials were scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the matter. Kessler has been on vacation in Texas and the meeting was rescheduled for July 31, the newspaper said.

Speaking with NBC News Wednesday, Kessler said he expects to lose his job.

"I'll probably be out of a job by the time I get home," he said.

Kessler called himself a "strict Second Amendment advocate" and complained negative public reaction to his videos threatened his First Amendment rights.

Gilberton Mayor Mary Lou Hannon said the borough cannot control what Kessler does on his own time, the newspaper reported.
