"I had no idea what had happened to it," he said.

Then, while his grandson, Liam, who was visiting from Florida, was playing in the in mud in the back yard, he happened to find a ring.

"I took it to Nana on the porch and said, 'I found a treasure,'" Liam recalled. "She said, 'You sure did. That is your Poppa's lost wedding band.'"

Liam's father Wes said he was surprised by the coincidence.

"It is just unbelievable that he happened to be playing right in this spot," Wes Eubanks said.

Jerry Eubanks said he's not sure if he'll start wearing it again, but he has a plan for it.

"I think I will leave it to him [Liam]," he said. "It will be something he will know about and treasure for the rest of his life."
