Citing a source close to the situation, CQ Roll Call reported traps have been set around the house, owned by Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., in an attempt to catch the rat, and Schumer has been overheard talking on his cellphone about exterminators.
Schumer released a statement confirming the rodent's presence in the house.
"Durbin and I are united in our hopes that it's dead, but if it's not, I hope it's upstairs and he hopes it's downstairs," said Schumer, who presumably lives downstairs.
