CHARLESTON, W.Va., July 18 (UPI) -- A Charleston, W.Va., law firm is reaching out to business leaders accustomed to instant information at their fingertips by creating a smartphone app.

Developed by the Spilman, Thomas and Battle law firm, Silman SuperVision was created because the firm saw a "hole in the marketplace," Eric Iskra, chairman of Spilman's labor and employment practice, told The Charleston Gazette.

"We saw an opportunity and went for it," Iskra said.

Iskra said the app addresses clients' frequently asked questions in Spilman's labor and employment practice, the Gazette reported Wednesday.

The app is free and compatible with Apple's iPhone and iPad.

Mobile devices are being used more frequently, "if not by the older generation of executives and business owners, then by the 20-somethings and 30-somethings who are up and coming in the business world," said Tiffany Fridley, a marketing specialist with the firm.

Because the Charleston-based firm has practices in Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina, the app was developed to apply the appropriate jurisdiction's law and will be updated as needed, the Gazette said.

"The caveat is every situation is different, but we wanted to give people who needed help the basics to get started with," Fridley said.
