Two rare white donkeys born in Italian nature preserve

PERUGIA, Italy, July 17 (UPI) -- Two rare albino donkeys have been born at an Italian nature park near Perugia, and park officials say they are expecting two more.

The rare white donkeys, native to the islands of Sardinia and Asinara, are a protected species, Italy's ANSA news agency reported Tuesday.

The first of the donkeys, a 20-year-old mare, arrived at the Citta della Domenica park in the 1980s. Since then, other Sardinian donkeys have been donated to the park.

The park plans to mark the new arrivals during the weekend with "The Feast of the White Donkey, " featuring games and donkey-themed activities.
