Scottish island disappears from Google maps

JURA, Scotland, July 17 (UPI) -- A Google spokeswoman said the company is working to get the Scottish island of Jura back on its maps after Internet users noticed it was missing.

Internet users noticed the problem Tuesday but the island remained visible on Google's satellite view, the BBC reported Wednesday.

"We are sorry about that. We're aware of the problem, and our engineers are beavering away to fix it," the spokeswoman said. "We hope to have the map of Jura back to normal as soon as possible."
