VILLORBA, Italy, July 17 (UPI) -- Police in Italy said a suspect's cat was licking the floor in an apparent attempt to find traces of cocaine while officers searched the apartment.

Villorba police said they were searching the apartment of a 40-year-old Colombian citizen for suspected cocaine Tuesday and they noticed the man's cat appeared to be attempting to lick traces of cocaine off the floor, ANSA reported Wednesday.

The feline appeared to be accustomed to licking cocaine off the floor, investigators said.

Police found nearly 9 ounces of cocaine in the apartment. The man was arrested on drug charges.
