AMESBURY, Mass., July 15 (UPI) -- Workers at a Massachusetts doughnut shop said a kind gesture by a customer led to 55 drive-through customers paying for the orders of the cars behind them.
A clerk at Heav'nly Donuts in Amesbury said an unbroken chain of 55 customers came up to the drive-through window Saturday and paid for the person behind them, WBZ-TV and Radio, Boston, reported Monday.
"We do have regulars who do pay for the customer behind them every once in a while, but never have we had a chain like today," said Wendy Clement, the shop's manager.
Clement said the chain was only broken because eventually there were no more cars in line.
Eileen Taylor said she started the chain Saturday because someone had done the same kindness for her the previous day.
"It was the best $12 I ever spent," Taylor said.
