BANGKOK, July 12 (UPI) -- Thai health officials said they are ordering more large-size condoms to cater to the needs of young people, who are getting taller and heavier.

Pornthep Siriwanarangsun, director-general of the Disease Prevention and Control Department, said Friday the Ministry of Public Health is planning to purchase more 2.12-inch-wide condoms to meet the needs of younger men who have difficulty with the 1.9-inch and 2-inch sizes.

"More Thai men are now over 170 centimeters [5-foot-10] tall and exceed 70 kilograms [154 pounds] in weight. They can no longer use condoms with sizes of 49 mm [1.9 inches] and 52 mm [2 inches]," Pornthep said. "Small condoms make them feel uncomfortable and eventually they won't use them."
