OSLO, Norway, July 10 (UPI) -- Police in the Norwegian capital said they arrested a naked man who was carrying a large box that turned out to be full of drugs.

Oslo police said witnesses alerted officers Tuesday to a naked man walking around on a public street and officers arrived to find a 24-year-old man who was known to officers from previous incidents, The Local.no reported Wednesday.

Oslo police spokesman Finn Belle said the man was carrying a large box that was found to be filled with drugs.

"We're probably talking about amphetamine," Belle said.

A post on the Oslo police Twitter account said a "naked man apprehended by police" was caught "this time on Sorenga," indicating other naked men had recently been arrested.

"Whether it's systematic, that I can't make a statement about," Belle said. "But we have had a few reports of naked men lately. It's usually tied to being high or for psychiatric reasons."
