Man accidentally shot by gun that dropped out of his holster

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., July 10 (UPI) -- A man with a valid firearm carry permit was accidentally shot outside a Walmart in State College, Pa., as he tried to pick up his dropped gun, police said.

Patton Township police said the 45-year old man was hurrying across the parking lot with packages when the gun fell out of his holster, the Centre Daily Times reported.

As the man jockeyed packages so he could pick the gun up, it suddenly discharged striking him in the hand, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police declined to identify the victim.
