Teenage Batman burglary suspect turns self in to police

July 8, 2013 at 1:51 PM

PUEBLO, Colo., July 8 (UPI) -- Authorities said a Colorado State Fair burglar in a Batman disguise has turned himself in to police and was identified as a 16-year-old boy.

Pueblo County Undersheriff JR Hall said the 16-year-old boy, who was seen on security cameras breaking into the Colorado State Fair's VIP building early Thursday alongside two others, turned himself in to Pueblo police after he saw himself on the news, The Pueblo Chieftain reported Monday.

Hall said the teenager "admitted to being the same person as the one depicted as Batman in the local media. It was due to local media that he turned himself."

The sheriff's office said it is seeking second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and theft charges against the teenager.

Investigators are working to identify the other two suspects. The trio allegedly stole TVs, a laptop and an empty cash register from the building.
