ARROBA DE LOS MONTES, Spain, June 27 (UPI) -- Officials in a Spanish town said a German truck driver's vehicle became wedged on a narrow street when his GPS device gave him bad directions.

Mayor Antonio Herance of Arroba de los Montes, in Ciudad Real province, said the truck was carrying electrical appliances from Germany to Portugal when it became stuck between two houses on the narrow street around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, ThinkSpain reported Thursday.

The driver, who said his GPS system led him down the narrow road, was unable to move the truck forward or in reverse.

A tow truck arrived and spent nearly five hours rocking the truck back and forth to free without crashing through the walls of the homes.

Authorities said freeing the truck led some houses to lose gutters and external air-conditioning units.
