Carlstrom pulled the vehicle over and the driver, David Fletcher, 44, of Hackettstown, told him he had driven his own car to the dealership to look at the new cars, Russell said.

Russell said Fletcher told Carlstrom he spotted a vehicle with the keys in the ignition and "he then decided to take the vehicle for a test drive."

Fletcher was arrested on charges of burglary and unlawful taking of means of conveyance.

The suspect was released on his own recognizance and is due in court at a later date, Russell said.
