Fire rescue personnel said the hikers, ranging in age from 15 to 30, were approaching a waterfall on the Kaau Crater trail in Palolo Valley Monday when they encountered a group of wild pigs and became lost while fleeing the animals, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Tuesday. Advertisement The group called for help around 4:30 p.m. Firefighters initially had difficulty locating the hikers, but they were able to escort them off the trail around 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.
