Stork that flew away from zoo still on the loose

SAN DIEGO, June 20 (UPI) -- Zookeepers at the San Diego Zoo are searching for a rare painted stork that managed to escape earlier this week, officials said.

The 1-year-old bird flew away from the zoo's Safari Park on Monday while it was training to fly, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Officials said the bird it full grown, but still inexperienced in flying.

Anyone who spots the bird should contact the zoo via email or phone.
