"We chose watermelon because it is a fun, summer flavor that goes great with the golden Oreo cookie," Oreo spokeswoman Kimberly Fontes told Time magazine in an email. Advertisement Nabisco began marketing the limited edition watermelon Oreos at Target stores June 10 and they'll only be available while supplies last, Time reported Tuesday. The traditional chocolate cookie with white creme Oreos have been around for more than a century, though. This isn't the first time Nabisco has ventured afield. There has been the rainbow gay pride Oreo, the birthday cake Oreo, the triple double Oreo, the dulce de leche Oreo, and many fruit flavors, including banana, coconut and strawberry. The Los Angeles Times reported the ingredients list doesn't include watermelon, just artificial and natural flavors.
